CPESC, Inc. has standardized CPESC and CPSWQ Exam Review Courses and Approved Instructors across the United States to teach the courses.
Overview of Instructor Responsibilities
Each approved CPESC or CPSWQ Instructor must sign an agreement with CPESC, Inc. that is renewable annually. Under the agreement, it is the responsibility of the Instructor to arrange all course scheduling and provide instructor services, as approved by CPESC, Inc. "Instructor Services" are defined as presentation of standardized course materials prepared by CPESC, Inc. and provided to the Instructor for instructing the CPESC or CPSWQ Exam Review Course.
CPESC, Inc. will provide the Instructor with all course materials, including an Instructor's Manual, visual aids on CD, and updates when available. CPESC, Inc. owns the copyright, title, and all materials used in the CPESC and CPSWQ course presentations.
The Instructor must provide a minimum of six (6) hours of classroom instruction per course day. The Instructor should provide at least two 15-minute breaks, one mid-morning and one mid-afternoon, plus a lunch break in the schedule.
The Instructor must purchase from CPESC, Inc. enough course notebooks for all course attendees at $60 each (CPESC course) and $65 each (CPSWQ course). The Instructor may not independently reproduce the course notebooks.
The Instructor must pay all expenses related to presenting the course, including travel, room and audio-visual expenses. The Instructor may charge a reasonable course fee to cover expenses. Meals, coffee breaks, or other refreshments are optional and at the discretion of the Instructor.
Procedure for Organizing a CPESC or CPSWQ Exam Review Course
If a Sponsoring Organization's Chapter, group, agency, company, or other organization would like to sponsor a CPESC or CPSWQ Exam Review Course presentation, contact the CPESC, Inc. Executive Director,to obtain a list of Approved Instructors. The Executive Director may be reached at (828) 655-1600 or info@cpesc.net.
The sponsoring group would then contact the Approved Instructor to coordinate the presentation of the course. The group and the Instructor would work out the details of the course venue, dates, and costs. The Instructor would purchase the workbooks from CPESC, Inc. and present the course.
It is up to the sponsoring group to work out a financial arrangement with the Instructor that addresses cost and profit distribution. Costs that an Instructor might want reimbursed include travel costs, workbook costs, and teaching time. Additional costs that may be incurred include advertising, meeting space, meals, and audio-visual equipment. Once these details are worked out, the sponsoring group can determine an appropriate amount to charge the attendees.
The sponsoring group and the Approved Instructor are responsible for advertising and promoting the course. CPESC, Inc. will put the information on its web site. Other venues for promoting the course might include the sponsoring organization's web site, newsletter, and email notices. The CPESC and CPSWQ Exam Review Courses may be presented in conjunction with other training courses.
Procedure for Sponsoring the CPESC or CPSWQ Exam
An organization desiring to sponsor the CPESC or CPSWQ Exam should contact the CPESC, Inc. Administrative Office to arrange details for the exam. The Administrative Office will help the organization find an Approved Proctor.
The sponsoring organization is responsible for handling registration for the exam and for sending a list of prospective examinees to the CPESC, Inc. Administrative Office seven (7) days prior to the exam date. The office will verify each examinee's eligibility and notify the sponsor of any discrepancies. If the list of examinees is received within the seven days, the exam sponsor may be responsible for paying any extra shipping costs for the exam materials.
The sponsoring organization is also responsible for providing an appropriate facility for the exam and for paying any compensation to the Approved Proctor. In choosing the facility, the following factors should be considered:
The proctor is responsible for the following:
As a reminder, only applicants who have been approved by CPESC, Inc. may sit for the exam. The application process takes about 45 days, so it is important that the exam date is established and announced early enough so that prospective examinees will have sufficient time to become approved.
Note, if the exam is being sponsored in conjunction with the CPESC or CPSWQ Exam Review Session, the Approved Instructor is responsible for proctoring the exam. If the Approved Instructor will not be available to proctor the exam, the CPESC, Inc. Administrative Office must be notified thirty (30) days before the scheduled exam date. If an Approved Proctor cannot be identified, the exam date may have to be rescheduled.
