Policy for Approving Exam Proctors

The purpose of this policy is to establish guidelines for approving exam proctors. The goal of this policy is to maintain a high level of accountability in the administration of exams.

Therefore, it shall be the policy of CPESC, Inc. that exams will only be proctored at sponsored exam sites as set forth in the Policy for Sponsoring the CPESC Exam. Any request for an exception to this policy must be submitted in writing and approved by the Executive Director. Such exceptions may be approved only due to hardship or extenuating circumstances. An applicant may appeal the decision of the Executive Director by submitting written notice to the CPESC Council Executive Committee. The decision of the Executive Committee is considered final.

The following individuals are eligible to proctor examinations with the provision that they must hold the same certification as the exam being proctored:

  • Approved Instructors
  • Area Representatives
  • Regional Representatives
  • Council Members
  • Staff Members (as approved by the Chair of the CPESC Council Executive Committee)

Other proctors (or organizations) may be approved by the Executive Director for exceptions to the policy as described above. These individuals must meet the following criteria:

  • Proctor does not have a work relationship (employee, supervisor, etc.) or close personal relationship with the individual sitting for the exam.
  • Proctor is fully certified (cannot have In-Training status) and holds the same certification as the exam being proctored.
